We would like to inform those who are registered and interested in the "Čiker mtb marathon 2020" that there are no possibilities for the marathon to take place from June 21–June 30.
MTB "Čiker" will try to organize the marathon from July 19–July 26. The route would be the following: Kraljevo - Studenica - Novi Pazar - Tutin - Sjenica - Nova Varos - Prijepolje.

The marathon is designed to visit the cultural and historical monuments of southwestern Serbia. It would end in the Mileseva Monastery, which is celebrating 800 years of its existence this year.

If MTB "Čiker" manages to organize the marathon in the specified period, it will be necessary for the participants to register again, but detailed instructions will be published soon.

Čiker MTB marathon is approaching and our marathon participants who have experienced a 10-day journey by bike already know what`s important to include in their luggage. However, there are always some things that we should be reminded of. There is no universal list that would suit each participant, but a little reminder of some small things can certainly make the journey easier for us during the marathon.

Helmet, gloves, goggles - the default must-have items for each cyclist. Flashlights, headlights and other light signals are often forgotten or neglected as the rides take place during the day, but we also come across tunnels on the road. Moreover, it is sometimes enjoyable to take an evening ride through the place we are are visiting, so it is necessary to have a lighting at hand. Locking a bicycle is important, so store cables or other equipment of that type should be brought. In most places there are objects in which bicycles will be under lock and key, but surely you should take into account the extraordinary situations, and additional caution can reduce the worry or a headache.

This is an important segment for anyone who takes part in the marathon, primarily due to hygienic and health reasons. Cyclists should bring active clothes, as well as jerseys that quickly dry out of sweat or after washing. It is recommended to bring enough clothes (for a ten-day journey), depending on personal affinity and planned manner of maintenance (washing during marathon or putting dirty clothes in a special bag). Rainwear (raincoats, rainbow trousers, jackets, etc.) is necessary because weather conditions can change very quickly, despite the weather forecast. It`s useful to bring a warmer piece of clothing, especially for evening hours as the altitudes bring lower temperatures, even in summer when the marathon takes place.
Useful items are also bandana, balaclava or lightweight scarves that can be used for different purposes (for absorbing sweat, cooling, heating, mosquito protection, etc.). Shoes should be comfortable and pre-tested in one-day rides. Slippers that cyclists use at the end of the day are certainly an important item.

Some cyclists bring their own food, some buy food in stores, taverns or within accommodation, and most of them combine these methods. It is certainly necessary to have something in your bags during rides such as dried fruits as they are relatively light, long-lasting, and energy-efficient. If there are options, fresh fruit bought along the way is an excellent choice. It is important to maintain the level of electrolytes and minerals that are lost during the ride, so cyclists should consider taking in cooked food, or simply soup. There is no need to spend much writing about water, which is crucial to be at hand all the time. Cyclists can also take the specialized drinks for athletes that contain mineral and vitamin supplements.
